A familiar sight along the rural roads in Kenya.

Coming into the market place in Kyambeke down the mountain from Ilima.

In the morning there weren’t many people on the road—there is only one main road--but by afternoon when we were going back down the mountain, people were everywhere. I have no idea where they were all going. They were dressed very well, sometimes had a baby strapped to their backs, and walking sticks in their hands. Some were herding goats or cows or mules. And they all stop and stare at us as we go by. We wave and smile and they wave back. It was like being in a parade.
